Co-funding WayMakers and Survivors Alliance North Devon with Recovery Devon

The Devon Mental Health Alliance has collaborated with Recovery Devon to provide support to two North Devon organisations. Recovery Devon established their Development Fund in 2015, offering grants to a number of small projects each year that need financial assistance to bring their ideas to life. Over the past year, we have been supporting this process by co-funding some of the shortlisted projects, through grants awarded as part of our Innovation Fund.

One recipient of this year’s co-funded grants is Barnstaple-based CIC WayMakers, which has used the funding to provide activities and outings for neurodiverse teenagers who may not have the opportunity to access such experiences otherwise. The grant has allowed the WayMakers team to create a safe and inclusive environment in which individuals can engage in fun activities, helping to alleviate social isolation and anxiety, and also form peer support.

The other organisation that has benefited from the collaboration is Survivors Alliance North Devon, who are looking to provide a therapeutic support group for women who have survived sexual violence. Sessions will have a strong emphasis on mindfulness and peer support, empowering individuals with the tools to manage their journey from surviving to thriving. This initiative plays a critical role in providing much-needed support and resources for a vulnerable group in the community.

Our collaboration with Recovery Devon in supporting these organisations demonstrates our shared commitment to improving mental health outcomes in North Devon. By providing financial support through our respective funds, we are making it possible for these projects to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals who face various challenges.
