Real Life Psychology’s Brain Gym: A model to help understand and regulate emotions

Matt and Tascha, two of our Community Development Leads, recently attended a training day for Brain Gym — a balanced collection of brain science around the impact of trauma and practical tools to help support emotional regulation in others.

Brain Gym was created by a pair of local psychologists, Dr Ståle Rygh and Dr Adam Morgan, the founders of Exeter-based Real Life Psychology CIC, based on their significant experience in supporting individuals who have been impacted by trauma. The material is freely available for anyone to access and download through their website and they are working towards the training to be widely available across Devon. Download the full Real Life Psychology Brain Gym guide here.

Matt, reflecting on the training, commented: “Brain Gym is an incredible piece of work, perfectly balancing accessibility and content that can truly transform someone’s understanding and support of those who have been impacted by trauma. It is a real testament to Ståle and Adam that something of such high quality has been made freely available. Anyone who engages with those impacted by trauma should download this resource today and will find themselves using it all the time.”
