BeWell@StepOne Yoga Wellbeing Group kicks off at Shekinah Grow in Paignton

Shekinah Grow in Paignton recently played host to the first BeWell@StepOne Yoga Wellbeing Group. Developed by Step One Charity with the support of Fitness Essentials, Torbay on the Move, Shekinah and Active Devon, the new group comprises a six-week programme aimed at improving mental health, as well as providing all the benefits of peer support, allowing people to connect with others who may be facing similar challenges around their wellbeing.

The group is run by Dee, one of our Recovery Practitioners based at Step One. Dee has also delivered Park Yoga classes for up to 100 people through the summer months, as well as producing instructional pilates videos viewed by several hundreds of people. The group — which is free for participants — will be running in outdoor settings “until we hit inclement weather”, at which point an online version will be made available in its place.

One participant in the first group commented: “The first session was great — the instruction was easy enough to follow, and the movements were challenging and adaptable to everyone there. It was calm, relaxed, judgement-free, and had a great atmosphere — everyone was nice and the venue was lovely.”

The next 6-week Yoga Wellbeing Group starts on Friday 15 September 2023 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Shekinah Grow. You can find out more information and sign up to take part by clicking the button below.
