Plymouth Mental Health Collective celebrates 10th Community Event

Devon Mental Health Alliance are proud to fund the Plymouth Mental Health Collective’s series of community events, offering a chance to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and strengthen efforts toward a healthier future in Plymouth. This month, the Plymouth Mental Health Collective host their 10th Community Event at the Aspire Sports and Community Hub on Wednesday 28th October, 10am-12:30pm.

Reflecting on their last community event in July, Si Parham, Co-Production Project Coordinator for Improving Lives Plymouth wished a “huge thank you to everyone who attended... Whether you came from a grassroots project, a statutory service, or simply brought your passion for better mental health support, you made the day what it was.”

Each community event offers an agenda filled with talks, opportunity for discussion, ending with an open mic session opening the floor to anyone to would like to share. Representing the Plymouth Mental Health Collective, Si Parham, has shared thanks to those who contributed to the 9th community event in July:

Death Cafe

“Thanks to Andrew & Gavin for presenting & giving an overview of how their service runs & what to expect if you attend. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.”

Devon Mental Health Alliance

“Tom & Cindy, from the DMHA, spoke about Mental Health and Recovery Drop-ins which offer a free, non-clinical space for adults affected by mental health challenges to connect with others, access support, and learn new skills. No referral or diagnosis is required to attend, everyone is welcome.”

Lived & Living Experience and Co-production

“A session presented by Chris from Livewell, alongside Mark from the Experts by Experience co-production group. We heard about the variety of services that Livewell provide & Mark shared a personal & engaging insight into what it means for him to be part of the co-production work he’s involved in.”

Open Mic Contributors

“Thanks to everyone who stood up & shared an update or news through our ever popular Open Mic session, including Common Ground Men’s Group, Clinical Research Team, Simply Counselling, Pregnancy Crisis Care and 2Wish.

Finally, thank you to the Devon Mental Health Alliance for funding the PMHC events.”
