Kingsbridge Drop‑In Brings Connection and Creativity

Every Tuesday afternoon, the Tumbly Hill Wellbeing Hub in Kingsbridge fills with connection, creativity, and conversation as the Devon Mental Health Alliance hosts its free Mental Health and Recovery Drop‑In (1:30pm – 4:30pm).

The group has grown into a lively and supportive community, with many regular attendees who come each week, come rain or shine, to share time together, explore activities, and find gentle wellbeing support.

Recent Highlights from the Drop‑In

Practical Advice from Citizens Advice Bureau

On Tuesday 24th March, the group welcomed Oleh Bilous from Kingsbridge Citizens Advice Bureau. Oleh offered valuable information on:

  • Energy and fuel advice

  • Financial assistance schemes

  • Local grants and free support available

Oleh was able to provide 1:1 support to attendees and give personalised advice. After his visit, the group were very positive, reflecting on how reassuring it was to hear clear, practical guidance from a trusted person. The group have been able to get to know Oleh through the Drop-ins and he is due to visit again in Autumn 2026, to support people to prepare ahead of the colder months.

Easter Celebrations

On Tuesday 31st March, the group enjoyed a relaxed and joyful Easter celebration, with plates of hot cross buns shared around, making the entire hub smell sweet. Participants were invited to decorate Easter baskets, which were generously donated by Tumbly Hill Wellbeing Hub. One attendee even picked fresh flowers to place inside them, which looked beautiful.

The session was filled with laughter, creativity, and a sense of calm focus as everyone designed their own unique basket to take home.

Community Spirit at the Heart of Every Session

It was especially touching in recent weeks to hear attendees talk about what makes Kingsbridge so special. One participant shared, “everyone has each other’s back in Kingsbridge”.

Across the sessions, this sense of community was truly visible. Many attendees mentioned how they would miss one another if they couldn’t come along. There was constant checking‑in, gentle encouragement, and lots of friendly conversation—some even choosing to stay and chat outside long after the session had finished.

It’s clear that this Drop‑In belongs to the community, and they have made it truly their own.
