Crediton’s turn to discuss local mental health service provision and how we can improve

Tascha and Matt, Community Mental Health Development Leads covering Exeter, East & Mid Devon, recently ran a Creative Solutions event for anyone in the Crediton area who works supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.

On Thursday 23 March 2023, over 15 representatives of mental health support within the community of Crediton, both statutory and VCSE, gathered together to explore what is going well and where things could be improved. We talked about everything from the need for more peer support groups in the area to how trauma-informed Crediton is as a town.

Matt, who helped organise the event, reflected:

It was a great event that will help the DMHA support Crediton in developing the resources it needs to support its population even better than it already does. This one conversation has helped new collaborations begin to take shape around group support and gently educating the wider town about trauma-informed values like kindness, safety, empowerment, being person-centred, and collaboration. Crediton has exciting developments ahead!
